Your own private covered boat on the Honey Island Swamp, up to 6 guests, a full 90 minutes on the water. Every guest is guaranteed to hold a live baby alligator with a state-licensed captain. Self-drive to Pearl River, about an hour north of the French Quarter. Souvenir photo included.
“They were super friendly, offered ways to save money, and even provide transportation. Our swamp guide was awesome, took us up close and personal to gators. Definitely recommend!”
“Lenny was very knowledgeable and helpful when booking the tour! Would definitely book again.”
“Customer service was astounding. We had to make so many changes to our reservation that I was embarrassed. G & G was timely and professional throughout. 100% recommended!”
This is our only swamp tour that guarantees every guest on board will hold a live baby alligator, and our only swamp tour booked as a flat-rate private charter. The whole covered boat is yours, with room for up to 6 guests, on the Honey Island Swamp about an hour north of the French Quarter. Your captain holds a state alligator exhibitor's license, which is what turns the baby gator hold into a guarantee instead of a maybe.
Glide under the cypress canopy of one of the least-altered river swamps in America while your captain tells you the stories that made this stretch of water famous. Somewhere along the way, you'll cradle a live baby alligator in your own hands and take home a printed souvenir photo that comes with the tour. If your captain's in a talkative mood, you might also hear why locals still trade stories about the Honey Island Swamp Monster and what a retired air traffic controller claimed to find out here back in the '60s. The boat runs a full 90 minutes on the water, with time on either side for the educational presentation and photo op.
If you've ever wanted to hold a baby alligator and come home with proof, this is the tour. Bring your group, drive out to meet the captain at Pearl River, and spend an hour and a half on the water in a boat built for 6 instead of 60. Your boat. Your captain. Your guaranteed gator.

About an hour north of the French Quarter. Yes, it's at a truck stop. The location is unusual but it has direct access to the Honey Island Swamp and is easy to find. Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure.
Three things. First, it's on the north shore in Honey Island Swamp, not the south-shore swamps most tour companies run (Jean Lafitte, Houma). Honey Island is denser, wilder, and considered one of the most pristine river swamps in the country. Second, the boat only holds 6 guests, which makes it more like a VIP or small private experience than our 45-70 seat pontoon tours. Third, and most importantly, this is the only tour we offer where you're guaranteed to hold a live baby alligator. Our captain holds a state alligator exhibitor's license, which almost nobody else has.
For real. Every guest on this tour gets to hold a baby alligator, and yes, you can plant a little smooch on its snout for the photo if you want. The baby gators are cared for under the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries ranching program and eventually released back into the swamp. You're literally participating in one of the great conservation success stories in America, which has returned over a million alligators to the wild. Feel good about the kiss.
Completely. The captain handles all the transfers, the babies are gentle, and their little teeth are not going to get through your fingers. Kids love it. Grandparents love it. The gators are mildly unimpressed by all of it.
The Pilot Travel Center at I-59 Exit 5A in Pearl River, Louisiana. About an hour's drive north of the French Quarter, straight up I-10 across Lake Pontchartrain and a short hop north on I-59. Yes, it's at a travel plaza. Yes, it's also right on the swamp. It's also the only swamp tour in Louisiana that can guarantee you'll hold a baby alligator, so the trade-off is worth it.
Yes. Since this is a private charter, you're welcome to bring your own drinks on board (BYOB). The one rule is no glass containers, so cans, plastic, or sealed cups only.
Not for this one. Guests drive themselves. We know that's different from our other swamp tours, but this location doesn't have a shuttle setup yet. If you don't have your own car, renting one for the day or taking a rideshare are both workable options. If you go the rideshare route, schedule your return trip in advance because drivers aren't always sitting around off the interstate.
Maximum 6 guests per boat. Because this is booked as a private charter, you get the whole boat even if your party is smaller. No strangers, no crowds, no waiting for someone else's kid to finish their photo.
Louisiana's answer to Bigfoot. Locally called the Letiche or the Cajun Sasquatch. Allegedly seven feet tall, grey fur, glowing amber eyes, and (this is the best part) webbed feet. The legend goes back decades, complete with plaster casts of tracks and properly grainy cryptid footage. Is it real? We'll let you decide. Ask your captain. He's heard things.

All ages welcome on this tour. The boat is small and is not wheelchair accessible. Guests who need wheelchair access should book our covered pontoon swamp tour instead. No pets or service animals are allowed on this or any of our swamp tours. Alligators are wild predators and a dog on board is a safety risk to the dog. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled departure and follow your captain's instructions at all times.
Sit in a covered boat for 90 minutes. Minimal physical demand. The only requirements are being able to step onto the boat and sit comfortably for an hour and a half.
